Role of Press in Society Essay Example for Free
Role of Press in Society Essay Many kings and emperors ruled Delhi over the years and, therefore, it abounds in monuments. People come from far and wide to see them. They have an educational value. Once when we had our Dussehra holidays, we went to see places of historical importance with our teacher. We hired a bus. First we went to the Qutab. It is now a building of five storeys. Two of its upper storeys had been brought down. It was built by Qutab-ud-Din, the first slave king of India. We admired the architectural beauty of the building. We went up to the highest storey and watched the people below. They looked like dwarfs. We also saw the iron pillar standing nearby. It is known as King Chandras pillar. It is more than two-thousand-year-old. Next we went to see the carvings of Hindu gods and goddesses on stone slabs. We were really surprised to see the wooden slabs changing into tone. From the Qutab we went to Tughlaqabad. Here an old city of Delhi, founded by Tughlaq Kings, was once situated. Now it lies in ruins. Then we proceeded to Hauz Khas which was the residence of kings. We relaxed for sometime on the green lawns. We had our lunch here and refreshed ourselves with tea. Next we went to Humayuns Tomb where Emperor Humayun lies buried. We appreciated the Mughal art and architecture. There are graves of the Mughals nearby. Our next place of visit was Kotla Feroze Shah. Feroze Shah Bahadurs tomb and a mosque are built in it. This place is known for the Ashoka pillar, which was brought from Meerut. Next we saw the ruins of Old Fort. It was started by Humayun but was completed by Sher Shah Suri. In the end we went to the Red Fort. It is a fine building of majestic grandeur. There we saw Diwan-i-Khas. It shows the architectural taste of the great Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan. The glory of the ancient ages is writ large on its face. We visited the museum inside the fort. Many things of historical value are displayed here. We learnt a lot from the visit and eagerly desired to have another educational tour of Delhi.

A Good Man is Hard to Find Essay -- Literary Analysis, Flannery OConn
A brilliant storyteller during the mid-twentieth century, Flannery O'Connor wrote intriguing tales of morality, ethics and religion. A Southern writer, she wrote in the Southern Gothic style, cataloging thirty-two short stories; the most well known being ââ¬Å"A Good Man is Hard to Find.â⬠Mary Flannery O'Connor was born on March 25, 1925, in Savannah, Georgia. Raised in her mother's family home in Milledgeville, Georgia, she was the only child of Regina Cline and Edward Francis O'Connor, Jr. Although little is known about Mrs. O'Connor's early childhood, in Melissa Simpson's biography on O'Connor, Simpson states that O'Connor attended St. Vincent's Grammar School in Savannah where she would rarely play with the other children and spent most her time reading by herself. After fifth, grade, O'Connor transferred; to Sacred Heart Grammar School for Girls; some say the reason for the transfer was that it was a more prestigious school than the former. She later enrolled in Peabody High School in 1938, entered an accelerated program at Georgia State Collge for Women in the summer of 1942, and in 1946 she was accepted into the Iowa Writer's Workshop at the University of Iowa (4 Simpson). According to American Decades, O'Connor earned her masters degree from the University of Iowa with six short-stories that were published in the periodical Accent (n pg Baughman). After college, O'Connor's writing career continued. During her brief career as a writer, O'Connor contracted lupus in which she ultimately died. In Short Stories for Students, Kathleen Wilson states that while Oââ¬â¢Connor was writing her first novel Wise Blood, which she started while attending the prestigious Yaddo writersââ¬â¢ colony, she suffered her first attack of lupus, a chronic, ... ...Grandmotherâ⬠(Oââ¬â¢Connor 179). The Grandmotherââ¬â¢s deviousness and immorality is evident in the beginning of the story. While reading the newspaper article about the Misfit, the Grandmother brings it to Baileyââ¬â¢s attention. In Short Story Criticism, Mary Jane Schenck writes ââ¬Å"For Bailey, the newspaper story is not important or meaningful, and for the Grandmother it does not represent a real threat but is part of a ploy to get her own wayâ⬠(Schenck 220). ââ¬Å"A Good Man is Hard to Findâ⬠begins with an innocent road trip, however, due to coercion by the Grandmother; it soon turns into a fatal nightmare. In Short Story Criticism, Martha Stephens writes ââ¬Å"â⬠¦ it is true that in a trivial sense everything that happens is the Grandmotherââ¬â¢s faultâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ She continues with ââ¬Å"It is in the conscious of the Grandmother that we continue to experience the action of the storyâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (Stephens 196).

Saab Scania Case
It can be inferred from the case that the work group design in engine assembly department has caused a high turnover ratio, has uninterested younger work force and absenteeism opted to re-design assembly jobs. The current dilemma for the Saab Automobile is whether they should go for product line design or continue with the group design to all the other assembly departments. Our objective is to decrease the turnover ratio, increase productivity and to improve motivation among young force which is currently prevalent in the work environment. The current productivity is 36 engine per hour which is much below the US counterparts. Thus, there is a need to increase it to a comparable level. We think that rather than going with the group design approach, we intend to follow a modified group design across all departments. Firstly, we need to segregate all the activities across the four departments based on the nature/similarity of the job. Secondly, employee profiling need to be done which wo uld categorize based on their willingness to work across similar jobs or the same specific jobs. Now people who are interested to work across similar jobs would be given periodically an option to switch between jobs which might be across departments also. This would in turn increase employeesââ¬â¢ job engagement, job belongingness and job rotation. Employees would now not get bored of their monotonous jobs and will find a point of motivation and interest. Employees who like doing the same job or are not so much interested in switching jobs would be allowed to do so. All these decision will trickle down to the long term hiring strategy of profiling employees based on their willingness to work across jobs at the very initial level of recruitment. This should decrease the dissatisfaction and the boredom that was getting created among them. Once employees start to connect with the jobs then the 20% of absenteeism mentioned in the case would decrease drastically. Also, it will increase the number of young minds in the industry as a whole. On the flip side, people will find it difficult to accept the change instantly. After few rotations it may again become monotonous and cause boredom among employees. It may also cause resentment among employees in the initial stage. Across the literature career, Shakespeare as the literacy genius addressed different playwriting genres which includes history, tragedy, love, and comedy. This demonstrated the diversity that he held in his literacy career. It is said that he died on the 23rd of April a similar date with his birth but this is not based on evidence but speculation (FP 1). William Shakespeare Analysis If Shakespeare were a beverage, he would probably be a cocktail drink, which is popularly established as a healthy drink made from fresh fruits. He would be the health beverage option in addressing the existing societal issues. He would not just generate health wellness but inner peace. For instance in his poem ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢My mistressââ¬â¢ eyes are nothing like the sunââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ and ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢Sonnetsââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ he does not only attempt to address love and relationship issues but he sounds like a mixture full of taste. Given that he is still deemed as the most innovative and diverse writer the cocktail drink suits the diversity of his literacy career. In ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢Venus and Adonisââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ and ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢The Rape of Lucreceââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ the uniqueness and the creativity of his poetry is well demonstrated which is reflective of his cocktail characteristics.
